After an unfortunate experience with an infected ingrown hair, waxing was recommended to our founder by a doctor and all was well. Until one blissfully hair free year later when tragedy struck - a piece of skin from her labia was torn off during a Brazilian wax! She didn't know it at the time but soft wax was the culprit. For almost six months she refused to let anyone near her with a wax strip and decided to remain hairy (but trimmed) for the rest of her life. Dramatic much?

Luckily on a trip to the US, a friend introduced her to hard wax and it was a game changer. Quick, efficient, non-sticky and long lasting waxes became her new expectation even after she had to return home. In Jamaica, many salons didn't offer hard wax at all and the salons that did charged more for it. ​

One small thought of "I could offer this service to women like me" brought Hedged to life in March 2018 as a dorm-to-dorm waxing service at the University of the West Indies, Mona. Word of mouth spread the news off campus and soon our founder along with her then partner started making house calls in Kingston. Increasing client demand and the onset of covid-19 made it necessary to find a space to accommodate our ever increasing clientele and you can find us at that space today inside Shop 28, Winchester Business Centre on Hope Road, Kingston 10.

In August 2024, Hedged expanded regionally to Trinidad & Tobago with a location at 20 Henry Pierre Street, St. James, Port of Spain.
